Sagamore Spirit Reserve Moscatel Barrel Finished Rye Whiskey

A maverick that reinstates Maryland’s legacy.

When award-winning Sagamore Spirit opened its waterfront distillery’s doors and fired up its copper stills, it had two things in mind: turn out Rye that would put Maryland back on the Whiskey-making map, and create a destination to delight and educate spirits lovers from near and far. One year, two million pounds of milled grain, and 30,000 visitors later, the plan is well ahead of schedule. The Whiskey’s blood is Sagamore Farm spring water, and everything is hand-bottled.

What’s really special with this bottle is that the award-winning Straight Rye Whiskey is finished for 110 days in Moscatel Sherry Wine casks, brought from the southern Spain. It’s a pretty exclusive stuff. Absolutely out-of-the-box and bonkers, but it brings a wonderful blend of fruit and spice in the Whiskey’s taste, complemented by a gentle and sweet aroma. It’s a Spirit that doesn’t play by the rules and make sure you savor the aroma before you sip it.

It’s fruity and spicy, which is wonderfully complemented by sweet and rich taste of dark fruits. The finish is long-lasting with hints of plum and honey.
