Ron Navazos Palazzi 15 Year Old Cask Strength Rum
$96.59
Marvelous Rum straight from a treasure chest.
History lesson time! Way back in the 15th century, Columbus introduced sugarcane to the Caribbean islands, which were an absolute paradise to grow the plant due to its tropical climate. The islands exploded with sugarcane and the farmers used the byproduct of sugar refining, molasses, to distill rum. Now fast-forward to the Nineties, when a pretty good deal happened between a Spanish winery and a Caribbean distillery: you give us a few hundred Oloroso Sherry casks, we give you some of our Rum, already aged for five years in Bourbon casks. The Spanish then poured the Rum into Oloroso Sherry casks for some good old solera aging, generally reserved for Cognac aging.
Now, these casks were stashed in a bodega in Jerez, a city in the south of Spain. Equipo Navazos and Nicolas Palazzi, the forgotten casks hunters, discovered this treasure and bought 32 casks. They bottled the remarkable Rum at cask strength (51.5% ABV) and just to make this clear: this Rum is extremely rare and when it’s gone, it’s gone. And it surely will go out of stock since it’s helluva rich and special Rum we’re talking about here.
