Plantation Guatemala XO Single Cask 2019
$63.99
Guatemalan Rum given the Ferrand treatment, then finished in rare and exotic Amburana casks.
Plantation Rum is owned by French Cognac producer Maison Ferrand, who controls no less than a dozen major brands of premium Spirits and Liqueurs. Ferrand is all about quality — and you can taste it. Plantation Rum is their top-shelf Rum label. And mighty good stuff it is, too. They offer a variety of Rums from the Caribbean. Depending on the specific actual plantation and the country of origin, the Rums can vary between soft and aromatic to light and elegant — each one showing the experienced influence of Maison Ferrand.
Plantation Guatemala XO Single Cask 2019 is crafted in the Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones by Licores de Guatemala in Guatemala City. The molasses-based Spirit was distilled on a column still and aged first in Bourbon casks before traveling to France to spend an additional year at the Château de Bonbonnet in Ferrand Cognac casks. Then it is allowed to finish in rare, exotic Amburana casks for six months.
Smartass Corner:
The Amburana tree is native to much of Central and South America. Historically a lumber tree, it is getting more rare so builders have transitioned to other woods. When used for aging barrels it adds warm exotic spice notes to Spirits.
