In 1896 Sergei Yulevich Witte — the finance minister of the Russian Empire — issued a decree to establish a state monopoly for the distillation of Wine and Vodka in Moscow. In 1901 the Moscow State Wine Warehouse No. 1 started production on the banks of the Yauza River. Now named the Moscow Distillery Crystal (Kristall), after one-hundred and twenty years it has survived the communist revolution, two world wars, a missile crisis, and the collapse of the Soviet Union to remain the largest and most prestigious Vodka production house in Russia and home to the famous brand Stolichnaya, among many others.

Kremlin Award Grand Premium Vodka was originally made to order for the Kremlin itself. Each batch was produced by special order from the highest echelons of the ruling communist party. It took the best distillers in Russia two full years of experimentation before they got it just right to please Stalin… as if their lives depended on it.

The Spirit is highly rectified (extremely pure) and both produced and cut with artesian well water that has undergone a six-step filtration cycle. Finally, the Vodka rests undisturbed for several months, developing a rich profile and unique character.
